hi, i was wondering if you could help me. i came across this blog on the internet when i was searching for a place to ask questions about greyhounds. my husband and i just adopted our first greyhound yesterday, and things are not going as we planned. she's sweet and quiet and plods around the house, but she doesn't exhibit any real affection for us, or interest in playing, or desire for toys/hugs/attention/etc. this is all contrary to everything we've ever read about greys. it makes us nervous that she'll be like this forever. we were wondering if maybe they're like this for a few days/weeks after you adopt them? she just seems so depresesed or not interested in us. we can't get her to perk up or get excited about anything and it makes us feel like we're doing something wrong, or maybe she just doesn't "like" us. have you seen this before? any advice would help. thanks you.
We have a feeling that your new hound just needs some time to get used to her new people and surroundings. Give her a little time to get to know you and settle into a routine in her new home. Ray would not want to admit this, but he wouldn't go upstairs and was so afraid of our cat that he refused to come indoors during the first few weeks we had him. Please let us know how she does in a few days. Also, send a picture and we can post it on this blog.
